Books are a uniquely portable magic.  Stephen King

English plays a vital role in society and in education – at Christchurch Learning Centre we endeavour to provide a high-quality education in English. We aim to teach pupils to speak and write fluently so that they can communicate their ideas and emotions to others and through their reading and listening, others can communicate with them. We would like our pupils to have a chance to develop culturally, emotionally, intellectually, socially and spiritually. The teaching of Language & Literature plays a key role in such development. Reading enables pupils both to acquire knowledge and to build on what they already know. All the skills of language are essential to participate fully as a member of society; we must therefore ensure that pupils get every opportunity to learn to speak, read and write fluently and confidently.
